The day after returning from Bali, we started announcing the engagement to our families. OK, more like to her family. It's a little confusing how things should be done - I don't think there's anything set in stone, though some would prefer asking for blessings from the bride's parents before the proposal, while others did it like me.

In any case, we wanted a separate ROM and customary Chinese wedding. Much of it is because we know that the banquet is really a parents' Thing, and wanted something of our very own. Alas though, the only auspicious date for ROM was 25 April, while I initially was looking for something a little earlier. (Come think of it, ROM is not that Chinese, why bother with auspicious dates?).

Oooh, loads of stuff to be done!

1. ROM date (got that part down!)
2. Venue
3. Justice of the Peace
4. Attire
5. Decor for venue
6. Menu
7. Wedding bands
8. Vows
9. The legal stuff
10. Photographer
11. Guest list

Budgeting was difficult. People don't usually give red packets for ROM, do they?
